What is a PB130 and why do I need it?

The PB130 is used in conjunction with appropriate ID documents to complete the identification procedure, which enables us to act on your behalf to receive and process your mail. 

The identification process is part of our compliance with the Anti-Money Laundering and Countering Financing of Terrorism Act 2009.

The identity verification requirement comes from AML regulations, as seen here - http://www.legislation.govt.nz/regulation/public/2011/0222/latest/DLM3845869.html. Particularly this part -

" (2) This regulation applies to a person who carries out, as the only or principal part of their business, 1 or more of the following activities: ... (c)providing a registered office, a business address, a correspondence address, or an administrative address for a company, a partnership, or any other legal person or arrangement.". 

 

If you are a Business Customer: 

You will need to provide an PB130 and ID documents to enable verification of Identity for each Director and Shareholder. 

You will need to provide two forms of ID - one must be a photo ID and one must have the residential address. 

In addition, you will need to include ID that contains your business name and address (business license, etc). 

If you are a Personal Customer: 

If you want to receive merchandise overseas,you will need to complete this form. You will need to provide two forms of ID - one must be a photo ID and one must have your home address. 

ID documents must originate from the same country in most cases, to enable electronic verification when available.

 

The verification process:

We perform the verification online where possible. Electronic verification is available from Australia, Austria, Canada, China, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Mexico, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Singapore, South Africa, Sweden, Switzerland, United Kingdom and United States. 

*If your country is not listed here you must provide certified copies of the originals. These will need to be verified so please include the name and number of the certifier*

The information we request will never be passed on to anyone, any copies of Identification is held under the strictest confidence and is protected by our security policies/procedure which are enforced by law. 

 

You have the following options to complete the identification process:

  1. Visual confirmation via skype / google hangouts. Just contact us to arrange a time.
  2. Scanned copies of ID (either drivers license and / or passport) AND residential address. We need to check these against an official database - which depends on what country your ID is from. If your ID and residential address are in the same country this normally works ok - if not, this method doesn't work so well and further checks might be necessary.
  3. Complete the online verification check (needs a good quality web-cam). Just login and go to the people tab, add yourself and then follow the 'verify now' link.
  4. Certified documents - an authorised notary certifies copies of your ID (Photo ID and residential address). We will need to contact your notary to confirm this happened - so please use someone who is contactable and speaks English.
